What You Need to DIY Bounce-Off
For DIY Bounce-Off, you will need a mini muffin tin or a regular sized muffin tin. As well, you will need some ping pong balls, preferably in two different colours. You might also want our free mission cards. You can find them here in our Fun Library. I recommend printing on card stock to make your game studier and easier to handle.

Playing DIY Bounce-Off
To play DIY Bounce-Off, place the mini muffin tin in the middle of the table. Next, choose a mission card (or decide on a pattern).
The next step is to choose how you wish to play. There are two ways that you can play: all at once or one at a time.
In all at once, both players bounce their balls on the table and try to get it to land in a hole that fits the pattern.
In one at a time, players bounce their balls one at a time in turn, trying to land them in the right spots.
For both ways, the ping pong ball must bounce first on the table and then into the tin.
The goal is the same, be the first player to put the last ball into the pattern. Once a player has landed their ball in the right spot, he will win the card.
After a card has been won, all the ping pong balls are removed from the try and a new card is selected and the process starts over.

Winning DIY Bounce-Off
The original Bounce-Off game is won by winning three cards. Three cards makes a fast game. However, if you wish a longer game, you can play to 6 or 10 cards to win.
Variations
Get It In, Get To Go Again
In Bounce-Off, when you are playing one at a time, if you are successful in getting a ball in the right spot, you cheer and watch your competitor take her turn. In this variation of DIY Bounce-Off, when you get a ball in the right spot, you get to go again.
Teams
You can play DIY Bounce-Off in team. Either play all at once or take turns—alternating between team members and teams. Teams might make it easier for younger kids or any player who is having a hard time getting the right bounce of it.
Math
For DIY Bounce-Off Math, you will need two dice and our print outs that you can get in our resource library. To set up, you will need to print the numbers then cut them out. Next, place the numbers in the bottom of the muffin tins face up.
On a players turn, he will roll the dice and add them together. He now has to try to bounce the ping pong balls into holes that add up to his rolled number.
Example: if he rolls a 5 and a 2 then his sum is 7. He now bounces a ball and hits a hole with the number 4 he now has to hit a 3 OR 2 and 1 OR a 1, 1, and 1.

If he bounces and goes over the sum of the dice, his turn is over and no points are scored. On the other hand, if he is successful, he scores one point. At this point, you can choose to keep the numbers in the tray or increase the difficulty by removing the numbers and setting them aside. In this case, a ball that lands in an empty hole counts as 0.
A player wins when she reaches 5 points.

Memory Math
Memory Math DIY Bounce-Off is played the same way as the Math variation with one exception. To start, the numbers are placed face down. Now players have to remember where the numbers are as well as try to get the ball in the right spot. Note: This variation could prove to be too difficult for some players.
Words
In Words, the muffin tin has letters instead of numbers. Players are now trying to hit holes that spell words. It is best if you choose a length of words to play to. Three letter words are the easiest. Four or five letter words are good for stronger spellers. However, you could play that a player can still bounce balls as long as he can spell a word with the letters that have been hit. A number of balls that are allowed to be bounced might be needed to be instated. This is fast fun not scrabble.
Again, the players score a point for each word that they spell. The player to make 3 or 6 words (your choice) first is the winner.
Bounce Into Fun
Bounce-Off is a great fun game that can easily be turned into a DIY game. You can make it as challenging as you would like or make it lighter—you can even sneak a little math or spelling practice in. Players of all ages can play and have fun no matter what variation you want to play.
