Pretend That–the game where you are the star of the game

Pretend That is a hilarious game where you and your family and friends are part of the game. The game is for three or more players and is good for players aged 8 and up.

We created this game after playing Imagine Iff. We liked the game so much but thought it was a little outdated and I thought it would be a great holiday game. We have a Spring Edition—great for Easter, St Patrick’s Day and all things spring. We also have a Summer Edition coming soon.

Set Up

To start, each player gets a set of numbered cards from 1 to 5.

Players also work together to fill in the character chart with 6 people they all know. They can be the players themselves or family members or friends or a combination of all of them. It is best that all players know the characters fairly well. (Note: although you may use pets we have found that some questions don’t make sense with them.)

Playing Pretend That

The first player rolls the dice and checks the character chart to see who the choice are. That player then chooses a character for the question to be about. Next, the player will then read the question and the answer choices.

Following this, all players will make their answer choices and place them face down on the table.

When all players have made their choice, all players flip over their number cards to show what answer they picked. Re-reading the question and answers can bring more fun to the game. For each player that matches, they get one point.

For Example:

Q: Pretend that it’s Eater dinner. What dessert would __character rolled___ most likely eat?
A: 1 – carrot cake
2 – cream puff
3 – Jell-O
4 – Rice Krispies square
5 — fruit flan

Pretend That question cards

If three players answer 4, two players answer 3 and one player answers 2, then all players get one point except for the player who answered 2.

After all the laughter dies down and the points scored, the next player rolls the die and asks the question on the next card.
