Cinco de Mayo (the 5th of May) is the day where Mexico celebrates the historic military win over the French army. However, the holiday has turned into a fun celebration to celebrate all things Mexican. And what better way than to celebrate with Cinco de Mayo Games!
These games are also prefect for any kind of fiesta and even Taco Tuesday. Keep reading to findoyr favorite.
But first, let’s decorate.
As always, I don’t believe in spending too much money on game nights. You can buy fiesta kits here or you can make your own.
To start, you can get some green balloons, blow them up, put little Vs on them with a Sharpie and set them in clay pots to make cactus.
Second, you can make tissue paper flowers with bright colours. Fold different coloured sheets together acaridan style. Next, wrap a craft wire or pipe-cleaner around the middle. Then pull down the layers to make the flower and see all of the colours.
Last, you can hang bright colourful streamers up. Nothing says fiesta like an explosion of colour.
Now onto the games…

Cinco de Mayo Game: Mexican Jumping Beans
This game is for kids. To start, pick one person to be the caller. Next, have all the kids stand in a line. Now the caller will pick a number and call it out. The kids, or the Mexican Jumping Beans, now have to jump that many times. If any of the players jump too many, or too few times, they are out of the game. The caller calls out another number (or the same one) and watches for any incorrect jumps. The game is over when everyone’s had enough jumping or when only one player is left.
It sounds easy but it gets harder as the game goes by. It’s a great way to burn off some energy.
Mexico Dice
When you’ve had a chance to catch your breath from all the jumping, pull out the dice for more fun and our next Cinco de Mayo game.
You will need three dice for each player. One dice will be used to keep track of a players score. The other two dice are the player’s rolling dice. A player only gets six lives and if you roll the lowest, you lose a life. You can read the full game rules here.
Taco Head Game for Cinco de Mayo
This is a simple game but one that will have you laughing. Players are broken up into teams of two. You will need a paper plate for each team, some string and one soft tortilla for each team. Safety glasses are also encouraged. Before playing, punch holes in the paper plates and run the string through the holes so that players can tie them on their heads.
To play, one team member ties the plate to her head. Her teammate stands a few paces away with a tortilla, waiting for the game to start. Next, when all teams are ready, someone yells go and then the player with the tortilla tosses it and tried to get it to land on his teammate’s plate. The first team to get their tortilla on the plate, and keep it there for 30 seconds, is the winner.

The next of our Cinco de Mayo games is a very simple one that any number of players can participate in. How you play Taco Bell is that you take turns counting, with a twist. And when you get to a multiple of 5 and 7 (35, 70, 105) you say “Taco Bell.” When a play doesn’t say the correct replacement word, she is out o fthe game. The winner is the last player in the game.
