Love to play card games like UNO and Five Crowns with your kids, but your kids are struggling to hold all their cards together? What about those games that have a lot of cards to collect and keep track of like Ticket to Ride? Or how about those grandparents who love to spend time with the family but may have a hard time holding a fan of cards for the time it takes to play a whole game? I have a simple solution that uses supplies that you already have in your home. This easy card holder is perfect for anyone who needs a little help or just wants better organizing.

First, I’ll show you how to make a single tray card holder. Later, I will show you how to add a second row to hold even more cards.

What you need to make our Simple Card Holder

For the single card holder, you will need a piece of card stock in any colour you’d like. If you don’t have card stock, then an empty cereal box, construction paper or even regular paper will work. You will also need a ruler and some tape. For the second row card holder, you will also need a second sheet of paper.

Making Your Simple Card Holder

To start, fold the card stock sheet in half, length ways or hot dog fold. I recommend scoring the fold first to make it a nice crease. You can score paper or cardboard by drawing a heavy line with a ruler. I like to use a ballpoint pen that has run out of ink but you can use any tool.

Next, measure 1” from both the top and the bottom of the paper. Again, score the lines and then fold them. Both folds should point in the same direction.

Last, tape the edges of the flap that is on the outside to the main part of the holder. (The flap that is hidden or on the inside should be left for strength.)

Second Row

To make a two row card holder, follow along the steps above until the tape. Do not tape yet.

Instead, measure a 1” strip off a second card stock sheet and cut it off. Next, fold the front flap down and position the strip on the face of the holder. Then tape the bottom of the strip to the body, making sure to fold the tape around the end. This will make a top pocket.

Next, fold the first flap up and tape the ends to the body of the card holder.
