When it turns frost and chilly outside, we love to bring all the wintery fun inside and we created the Snowball dice game for just that reason.
Snowball is a dice game that anyone of any age and skill level can play. It’s great for groups and when you want to have a little bit of winter fun.

What You Need For Snowball
For this game each player will need five dice. You will also need a pen and paper to keep score with. Optional is one larger dice or a dice in a different colour.
We love to play dice games where everyone gets their own colours of dice. If you need some more dice shop here. Canadians can shop for dice here.
Playing Snowball Dice Game
To start, one player will roll to determine the snowball number. This is the number that everyone is rolling for in the first round. If you have one dice that is bigger than the others or is a different colour, you can roll this dice and leave it to show everyone the snowball number.
Next, the first player will roll all of her dice. Now she takes any dice that match the number and places them in the middle to start the Snowball.

Now it is the next player’s turn. He rolls all of his dice. As before, any dice that match the number are added to the middle to make a bigger snowball.
Play continues like this until one player has added her last dice into the middle.
Now the scores are added up. First, count how many dice are in the snowball. This is the base number. Second, all players count how many dice they have left. This number is added to the base number to make that player’s score for the round.
The player who added all of their dice to the middle, scores zero points.

Round Two
To start the second round, a new Snowball number is rolled. Now the players are rolling for the new number and play as they did in the first round.
Winning Snowball Dice Game
The first player to reach 100 points has been beaten by the Snowball and the game is over.
To make a shorter game, you can play to 50 points.
Tie Breaker
If there are two or more players who go over 100 points with the same score, you need a tie breaker. The players each get three dice. The last player to have dice is the one defeated by the Snowball.
Single Round Snowball
To make a quick play game, players will play a single round in the same manner. The first player to add all of their dice to the Snowball is the winner.
All Tired Out
When the Snowball game is over and everyone’s nice and tired, grab a cup of hot chocolate and get ready for the next game!
