The Premises of Cupid Daily News

In this game, players are competing to become the Cupid Daily News’s reporter with the most heart. Everyone crafts their own headline and if the editor in chief picks their headline, they get a heart point.

What you Need

You will need to get the Cupid Daily News game from our shop here. Then you will need to pint and cut out the cards. The game also with a heart tracker as well as headline slips. You will also need pens or pencils to play.

Playing Cupid Daily News

To start, the cards are separated into their colour coded categories. There’s a category for nouns, verbs and adjectives. Each pile should be placed face down.

Next, players choose a player to be the Editor in Chief for the round. This player will not make a headline for this round. The position of Chief will rotate through all the players.

The next step is for the top card of each pile to be turned over. Player then read the words. These words will be the base for the headlines. All three words must appear in the headline but can be changed in order and tense.

For example if the words are Cupid, Pinch and Fast a possible headline could be: Cupid Pinches Mother Fast on the Cheek. Another possible headline could be: Fast Talking Cupid gets Pinched on the Cheek.

Once all players have their headlines written down, they pass them to the editor. The editor then reads them all out loud. He then chooses the headline that he likes the best. The player who wrote the winning headline gets the heart point.

Now, the job of Editor in Chief is passed to the player on the left. The next card in each stack is turned over and new headlines are written. The new chief will choose the headline she likes best and that player will get the heart point.

Winning Cupid Daily News

The first player to earn five heart points is given the title of Reporter with the Most Heart and wins the game.

Variations

The first variation of Cupid Daily News is to make it easier. If players are struggling to fit all three words in the headlines, or if you’re playing with younger players, remove the adjective cards and play only with the noun and verb cards.

The next game you can play is more of an additional game. To play, put all of the headlines (or the winning ones) in a hat and then players pull one out. They then have to pretend that they are doing a live report and tell the story of what happened in the story to create that headline.

All the Heart

Cupid Daily News is a game that is full of creativity, fun, and imagination. It’s never the same game twice and will keep you filled with laughter the whole winter long. You can get your copy in the Family Game Shelf Shop here and get ready for some epic game nights!
