Chickyboom

The Rocking Rolling Roost 2 to 4 players aged 4 and up

Chickyboom is a cute chicken themed game that has players using their sense of balance.

The chickens are perched on their roost but if any of them move then everything will shuffle.

Set Up

To set up Chickyboom, you first need to place the platform on the table. Next, load up the platform up with the hay bales, wagon wheels and chickens. After that, carefully lift the platform and place it on the base so that it is balanced.

Chickyboom Object

The object of the game is to be the player who has the most points at the end of the game. Each of the pieces has a points value. The haystacks are worth 3 points. Wagon wheels are worth 1 point each and the chickens are worth 3 points for a big chicken and 2 points for a small one.

Playing Chickyboom

On a player’s turn, she will carefully try to lift one of the pieces off the platform and win the point. By removing a piece, she changes the balance of the game. Players need to plan out which pieces to move so that the roost doesn’t come falling down. If a player lifts a piece and sees that the roost will fall, he can gently place it back and chose a different piece.

Play continues until one of two things happens. One, all the pieces are removed. Two, the roost falls and comes crashing down.

Winning Chickyboom

The player who has the most points is the winner.

What We Like

The quality of this game is top notch with all wooden pieces. The theme and pieces are cute.
Next, the element of surprise is great for younger kids.
We also like that if you make a mistake and catch it in time you can place the piece back and try a different one; this saves a lot of hurt feelings and teaches kids to move slowly.
Lastly, the kids loved placing the pieces on the platform and coming up with the different sets ups.

What We Don’t Like

First is the noise. When all the pieces come crashing down, it really is loud. This might be just what your kids like but it wasn’t something we looked forward to.

Next, it can get repetitive. It is good for younger kids but if you’re looking for a long play time, Chickyboom doesn’t hold our interest.

Is Chickyboom worth it?

If you have small children and ones who love noise and farms then Chickyboom is definitely worth it. We recommend adding Chickyboom to your Family Game Shelf.
