How to Play the James Bond Card Game

The James Bond the card game is an easy, quick game that only needs players to have matching abilities. It is a two player game good for ages five and up.

Kids love to play—and win—card games with their parents. Some great games are Go Boom, Crazy 8s and Crazy 8 Countdown as well as Kings in the Corner and Golf. James Bond will quickly be added as a kid favorite.

In this post we will cover how to play, the rules and some variations of the James Bond card game. Let`s get into it.

What you need for James Bond

You will need one deck of playing cards, jokers removed, and a decent sized play area. If you need some new playing cards, shop here. Canadians here.

Set Up

To set up, you will deal six hands of four cards, face down, to both players. These are the player’s hands and should be left in piles.

Next, place the remaining four cards face up in the middle of the play area.

Playing James Bond Card Game

When both players are ready, the game starts. Players pick up one of their hands. They may exchange any card in their hand with one in the center pile. They then can continue to exchange cards with the hand that they have picked up or can put it back down, facedown, and pick up a different hand.

When a player has four of a kind, she puts that pile face up on the table in front of her.

Players can only exchange cards with one hand at a time. Similarly, a player can only have one hand visible to him at a time, unless it is a completed pile.

The play continues with players exchanging cards, trying to make their hands all match.

Note: that if in your pile #2 you have a queen and pile #5 is collecting queens, then you can exchange the queen from #2 and then put down #2 and pick up #5 to exchange for the queen.

Winning James Bond

The first player who has all of their hand in four of a kind piles announces “James Bond” and wins the game.

James Bond Card Game Variations

In some games, players keep their competed four groups face down and only reveal them once they have all hands completed. The player who finishes first still says James Bond to win.

In this James Bond variation players keep score. Play is the same, however, players will want to collect the 7s. When a player collects all four 7s, she will earn one point. The player who calls out James Bond gets one point. A player ears two points if he has both the 7s and has gone out first. To win James Bond 007, a player needs to be the first to earn seven points. In an event of a tie, the player with the last completed 7 group is the winner.
