As the snow piles up outside you could stay inside and play games (see our 10 games that take an hour to play for some ideas) or you could slap on hats, mitts and head outside for some Winter Minute to Win It games.
We originally told you about 10 Minute to Win It Winter Edition games last year. You can read the post here to see the games. They were so much fun we came up with even more Winter Minute to Win It 2022 Edition to play outside with our family.
Getting outside in winter is important to get some sun, fresh air, exercise but it isn’t always easy to find things to do. This list of game will have everyone having fun, enjoying winter and getting everyone tired out!
Winter Minute To Win It Game – Snow Shuffle
What you need
You need a snow shovel, several snowballs in a pile and a bucket. If it’s not snowman snow a pile of ice cubes works great too.
How to Play Snow Shuffle
Each layer has one minute to see how many snowballs they can scoop up with the shovel—one at a time—and carry them to the bucket. Snow balls need to land in the bucket to count. The winner is the player with the most snowballs in the bucket.

Toboggan Slalom
What you need for this Winter Minute to Win it Game
A toboggan or sled, plastic cones or other items to make obstacles, optional ice cubes
How to Play Toboggan Slalom
First, set up the cones in a well-spaced out line. Next, if you’d like, place several ice cubes on the sled. Player then have one minute to try to make it through the slalom run—stopping if they loose any ice cubes. The winner is the player with the most trips or who has passed the most cones.
Note: You could also use children just make sure that it’s fair for all players.
Winter Minute To Win It Game – Jump for It
What you need
A skipping rope and an area to skip in.
How to play Winter Minute to Win it Game Jump for It
To play, each player has one minute to see how many times they can skip with full winter gear on. This can be played either in the snow or a cleared off space like a driveway. The winner is the player who skips the most.
Note: Stand back from the skipped in case they lose grip of the rope—skipping ropes hurt more when you’re cold.

Winter Minute To Win It Game – Snow Hoop
What you need
You will need a hula hoop and snowballs. If it’s not snowman snow then ice cubes or balls will work.
How to Play Winter Minute to Win It Game Snow Hoop
First, set up the hoop in the snow. Next draw a throw line a few steps away. Then players have one minute to see how many snowballs they can get through the hoop. The player with the most wins.
Winter Minute To Win It Game – Mitten Flip Cup
What you need
You need a plastic cup like the ones here and players who are wearing mittens (puffy gloves could work too).
How to Play Mitten Flip Cup
First, set the cup upside down on a flat surface. Next, each player has one minute to see how many times they can flip the cup over so that it stands upright while wearing mittens. The winner is the player who gets the most flips.

Hockey Goals
What you need for this Winter Minute to Win it Game
You need several snowballs or ice cubes, a hockey stick and a goal area. If you don’t have a hockey stick, you could use a broom.
How to Play Hockey Goals
Players take turns trying to score as many goals as they can using either the snowballs or ice cubes in one minute. The player with the most goals is the winner.

Winter Minute To Win It Game – Ring Toss
What you need
You will need several plastic water bottles that have been filled with water (they can be frozen) and some small rings – glow stick bracelets work great for this.
How to Play Ring Toss
First, set up the bottles either in a line or a pyramid shape. You can assign point values per bottle if you’d like. Next, mark a line a few steps away as the shooting line. Then players have one minute to see how many rings they can get to ring the bottles. The winner is the player with the most rings, or pints if you’ve assigned points to the bottles.
Winter Minute To Win It Game – Hula Hoop
What you need
You will need a hula hoop for this game, a large enough one so that everyone can fit with their winter gear on.
How to Play Winter Minute to Win it Game Hula Hoop
Players have one minute to see how many times they can get the hula hoop to go around. Or you can play to see how many seconds a player can keep the hoop up for. The winner is the player with the most turns or best time.

Bounce Stick
What you need for this Winter Minute to Win it Game
You will need a hockey stick and a ball of some kind. If you don’t have a hockey stick then a broom can be used.
How to Play Bounce Stick
Each player will have one minute to see how many times they can bounce the ball on the hockey stick. The player with the most bounces wins.
Winter Minute To Win It Game – Shoot Out
What you need
You will need several plastic cups and several snowballs for this Winter Munte to Win It game.
How to Play Shoot Out
First, set up the cups on a flat surface like a table or deck railing. Next, draw a shoot line a few steps away. Now players have one minute to throw the snowballs at the cups and see how many cups they can knock over. The winner is the player with the most knocked down cups.

Winter Minute To Win It Game – Target Ramp
What you need
You will need several ice cubes, a ramp of some kind and a target. The ramp could be a slide or a board. The target could be drawn on the snow with food colouring or chalk or a piece of cardboard that is anchored in the snow.
How to Play Target Ramp
First, set up the target at the bottom of the ramp. Next, players have one minute to see how many ice cubes they can land on the target. The player with the most wins.
The Last Snow
If you were counting, you’d see that we have 11 Winter to Minute to Win It games instead of ten. That’s because we had so much fun playing that we couldn’t help but add another idea. These games will have everyone laughing and having fun and most of all enjoying the great wintery outdoors.
