Ages 10 and up 3 or more players
Does your family do Taco Tuesday? If you do, or even if you don’t, the game Let’s Taco Bout It could be a great way to connect and have fun when dinner is over.
You can learn a lot about a person by playing games. Trivia games like Beat the Parents and I Should Have Know That let you know what useless info someone has. Word games like Scattergories and Outburst let you know what wavelength a person is on. Co-operative games like Exit and Forbidden Island let you get to know how someone thinks. And the things you can learn when you settle in for a long play card game like Jok-R-Ummy is amazing. But Let’s Taco Bout It is actually designed to have you learning things about your fellow players that you never knew you needed to know.
Let’s jump in to see how to play Let’s Talk Bout It and what we thought of it.

Setting Up Let’s Taco Bout It
To start, lets go over what is included in the game. First, there is an adorable stuffed taco. Next, there are two types of cards. There are the convo cards and the Yah Nah cards.
To set up the game, everyone gets a Yah card and a Nah card. The convo cards are shuffled and placed in the middle of the playing area. Last, the youngest player get the taco.

Playing Let’s Taco Bout It
To start, the player with the taco flips over the top convo card. She then reads it out loud. Next, each player chooses either their Yah or Nah card to place in front of them, face down. When everyone one has their answer, the player with the taco gets to choose a player to throw the taco at. The taco should be thrown at the player below the neck to avoid someone getting hurt. The player who threw the taco now tires to guess the answer. If she is correct, she gets a point.
The Convo Cards. These cards range in a variety of questions. Some examples are “Had a crush on a teacher,” “Farted and blamed someone else,” and “Accidentally laughed at a funeral.” These are real get to know you kind of questions.
Reader Decides. These cards let the reader pick a question of their choice. It can be anything that has a yes or no answer to it.

Cathing the Taco When a player has the taco thrown to them, they can try to catch it. If they catch it, they get a point.
Winning Let’s Taco Bout It
The first player to get 5 points is the winter.
What We Liked
First, the stuffed taco is soft and cute. It’s the prefect size and shape for throwing. And of course we love games that let us throw things at each other. Next, the game is really easy to play and has some hilarious questions in it. It also opened the door for some follow up questions and storytelling. Last, it has a lot of cards so it would take you a long time to play through all of them.
What We Didn’t Like
First, the box is a little big for what is in it. With space on the game shelf at a premium, we think the box could be smaller. Next, our family is a pretty close one—we knew most of the answers just by knowing each other so well. For example, there’s a question about someone important not knowing your birthday; it’s a long running joke that my mother always got my birthday mixed up with my cousins (if you know the story you could see why) so it was an easy point to get. Last, it’s hard to come up with a reader’s choice on the spot; that might just be us though.
Is Let’s Taco Bout It Worth adding to you Family Game Shelf?
The answer will depend on your family and how well you know the people you play with. For families that have kids who haven’t heard all your stories, then Let’s Taco Bout It is a great way to learn and share. Also, if you play with a group of friends who don’t know all your secrets this game could be really fun. Even with knowing most of the answers, we still had fun playing. Let’s Taco Bout It is one to consider adding to your Family Game Shelf.
