Are you a huge Disney Fan? Think you know all things Disney? Test your knowledge in the game Disney Color Brain.
We love Disney in our house, and really, who doesn’t? So a Disney themed game? You know we’d love to try it. Disney Pictopia is a family favorite as was Disney Eye Found it when the kids were young. So when we found Color Brain we snapped it up and rushed to pull the lid off.
In this post we’ll go over the Disney Color Brain Game rules, how to play and if we think it’s worth adding to you Family Game Shelf. Let’s get started.

Setting up Disney Color Brain
To start, each player chooses one of these characters: Mickey, Buzz Lightyear, Olaf or Cinderella. Once they have chosen, they collect all of the colour cards with that character on them. They also get a color capture card as well.

Last, the stack of question cards is set in the middle of the playing area.
How to Play Disney Color Brain
To start, one player reads out the top question card. Each card has the name of a Disney movie on it, the question about that movie and how many color answers there should be.
Next, each player guesses the colours that answer the question. They take the cards with those colours and place them face down on the table in front of them. The first player to pick her cards then calls out “Color Brian.”

Now, all other players have 15 seconds to choose their cars. If they take longer, they are out of that round.
When all players have their answers, they flip over the cards showing what they think the answer is. Next, someone flips over the question card to reveal the answer.
If a player has any of the answer wrong, they score no points for the round.
If a player gets it right, he gets one point for each player who didn’t get the answer correct. For example, if players A and D answer wrong but players B and C answer correctly, players B and C get two points each.

What happens if everyone gets the answer correct? In this case, the point rolls over to the next question. After the next question is answered, any player who gets points gets an extra point. When all players correctly answer the second question correctly, then that point and the extra point rolls over again.
If all the players answer wrong, no points are scored and all the extra points are lost.
The points are scored on the score pad with the symbols that show that match the player’s character.

Color Capture Cards
Each player has one color capture card. This card is used to block another player. If a player is in the lead, they cannot use this card. Also, these cards need to be used before the next question is read.
To use the card, a player will choose a player to use it on. Next, she gets to blindly choose 8 cards to pull from that players hand. The color cards are set aside for that round. This makes answering the next question difficult for that player, but they get their cards back after one question.
Color capture cards are only be used once and are set aside after a player has used his.

Winning Disney Color Brain
The first player to reach 10 points is the winner.
What We Liked
First, we liked that the game is easy to learn and play. We also liked how fast it is to play, making it a great choice for in-between games or when you only have a few minutes to play.
We also liked the challenge of the game. It’s a lot harder than you think it will be. Do you know the two colours of Inside Out’s Fear’s vest? And do you know it within 15 seconds? And what about Mrs. Jumbo’s bonnet colour? Blue? Pink? Purple? Gray? See, harder than you think. We like that.
Next, the theme of the game is spot on. You need to be a true Disney fan to be good at this game. We also liked that the art work on each card clearly shows the answer. It also brought back memories of some of the movies that we haven’t seen in a long time.
Last, it’s a great trivia game to play with kids. Younger kids might have the upper hand in this game. Kids usually study the movies more closely than the adults. The boost that kids will get for knowing more than their parents is humbling and rewarding at the same time.
What We Didn’t Like
First, if you haven’t seen all of the movies on the cards, then you’re a little lost. We have seen most of them but Chicken Little? We missed that one. The other problem with this is that if all the players but one have seen a movie, it gives them an unfair advantage.
Next, we found the scoring a little… hard to keep track of? We did have to stop and figure it out once or twice.
Last, one of us is not good with colours or attention to detail. This member really struggled with the game and, although it’s usually fun to beat them, it wasn’t much fun to watch them struggle with each question.
Should you Add Disney Color Brain to Your Family Game Shelf?
If you love Disney movies and have a good memory, then I would recommend adding Disney Color Brain to your shelf. It’s fast, fun and the price tag is quite reasonable (at least when I bought ours). We enjoyed laughing at each other when we though that FiFi’s feathers are pink and purple when they’re actually brown and white.
