How to Play the Par 4 Dice Game

Today we have another golf dice game to add to our collection. The Par 4 Dice game joins Golf dice, Straight Golf, Par 24 and our favorite Whacky Putt (our mini golf dice game).

Par 4 is a single hole golf game for four players where players go up and down the fairway.

Let’s get into the rules and how to play.

What You need For Par 4 Dice Game

You can buy a wooden game board here; Canadians here. Or you can get your free score sheet in our Fun Library. (You can get your password by signing up in the black box.) You will need one dice and a mover for each player. If you would like, you can even keep track of the score with a regular pen and paper, but it’s more fun to move up and down the game board.

How to Play Par 4

To start, you have to know that a low dice roll is what you’re aiming for. The lower the dice roll, the more you move. If you roll high, then you move—but backwards! The game is based on the hole being a Par 4. Here are what the rolls mean and what happens when you roll them:

One – this is 3 under par and you move three spots forward
Two – this is 2 under par and you move two spots forward
Three – this is 1 under par and you move one spot forward
Four – this is par and you don’t move
Five – this is 1 over par and you move backwards one spot
Six – this is 2 over par and you move backwards two spots

The blue player rolled a 2 and moves forward two, the purple moved one spot forward, the orange can’t move backwards and the red stays where she is.

To start, all players place their mover on the tee. As you roll you move closer to the hole or back to the tee. Once you have reached the tee, you can’t move backwards anymore. When you roll a 5 or 6 on the tee, you stay on the tee.

The blue moves forward 3 spots, purple forward 2, orange stays where he is, red moves forward 1
Blue moves back2 spots, purple forward 3 spots, orange forward 1 spot and red stays where she is.

Winning Par 4 Dice

The first player to reach the hole is the player. Please note that some rules say that a player must roll the exact number needed to sink the put.

Pen and Paper

To play without a score board, you would start at a score of 0. You would then minus points for rolls of 1, 2 and 3 and add points for 5 and 6s. The first player to get to minus 10 points wins.

A Hole in One

The Dice game Par 4 takes a little bit of thought to wrap your head around how the roll makes you move, but once you play one time, it will bring hours of fun, for golfers and non-golfers alike.
