How to Play the Jackpot Dice Game

Simple dice games of luck are prefect for some game nights and the Jackpot dice game is a fun one.

Although we do love some more complex games, the simple luck ones hit the spot when you want fast fun especially when playing with players of all ages and different skills levels. Similar games are Roller Coaster, Thunderstorm and Chicago dice. Jackpot also has an element of gambling like Macao, and Horse Racing. It’s a game for 4 to 8 players and kids to grandparents can play.

In this post, we’ll cover what you need, how to play and game variations for Jackpot. Let’s get to it.

How to Play Jackpot Dice

Before playing, you will need to decide how long you would like to play. You could play for a set amount of time or turns. Or you could play until one player collects all of the chips.

Each player starts with the same amount of chips. (You could use candy instead of chips if you’d like.) On your turn, you roll the dice and add the two dice together. Next, you will place a chip on the sum’s number on the game board. Play moves to the player on your left.

The next player will roll the dice and add them together, again putting a chip on that number.

This is where it gets interesting. When there are three chips on a number and you roll that sum, you get to collect all the chips from that number.

Snake Eyes

When you roll a double 1, you have rolled Snake Eyes and you will need to put a chip on each space on the board that doesn’t have three chips on it. If you don’t have enough chips, start with the lowest number and work your way up until you run out of chips.

Boxcars

Similarly, when you roll double 6s you have rolled boxcars. When this happens, you have won the Jackpot! You get to collect all the chips that are on the game board.

Out of Chips

When you run out of chips, you are out of the game.

Winning Jackpot Dice

At the end of the time or turn amount, the player with the most chips is the winner.

Jackpot Dice Variations

The only game variation I have found for this game is called Lose to Win and it’s played the same way with the opposite goal. The goal in this variation of Jackpot is to the first player who loses all of their chips. So, when you roll a number you will place a chip on that number. If there are already three chips on that number, you have to pick up the three chips and add them back to your pile.

Rolling Snake Eyes is considered lucky as you get to place one chip on each number that has less than three chips on it. You start at the number 3 spot and work your way up to 11. If there are already three chips on that number, you have to collect those chips. If you run out of chips while placing chips, you win.

The first player with no chips is the winner.
