Six seven is the hot new phrase and I say if you can’t beat them then join them. So, I created the six seven card game. It’s surprisingly full of hidden math practice and is fast paced and completely unpredictable in the best way!
Card games are a little trickier for me to think up. Wondering what others I have? Check out Dump the Black, Crazy Fish, Haystacks and Christmas Crazy Eights.
All good games but let’s get back to the Six Seven Card game.

What You Need for Six Seven Card Game
You will need a deck of cards with the jokers removed. You may also find it helpful to have a paper with 6 on one side and 7 on the other side. If you need some new cards, and who doesn’t?, you can shop here; Canadians here. The Bicycle Disney Dogs and Cats look pretty cool.
How to Play the Six Seven Card Game
The goal of the game is be able to play either a 6 or a 7 when it’s your turn and not be the player who busts.
To start, pick a dealer. Next deal six or seven cards (see what happened there? I recommend 7 cards) to each player.
On your turn, draw a card from the deck. Now you need to decide what to discard. If the card is not a 6, then the turn moves to the player on the left. This player will now draw a card and discard a card.
Continue until a player puts a 6 or cards that add up to 6 on the discard pile and announces “six”. This is when the fun begins.
Now the next player has to play a 7, cards that add up to 7 or another special card.

If the second player plays a 7, or cards that add up to 7 or a special card, then he needs to announce “seven” and flips over the 6 7 marker.
The next player needs to play a 6, cards that add up to 6, or a special card. Then the next player would need 7 or a special card and so on.

If on your turn, you can’t play a 6 or 7 then you lose the round and get a point.
You can add as many cards as you need to make 6 or 7. Aces count as 1. Don’t forget to flip over the 6 7 marker to keep track of if a player needs to play a 6 or 7.
Remember to draw a card at the start of your turn. If your hand runs to three or less cards, draw enough cards to have a hand of four cards on your turn.
The Special Cards
6 – 6s are 6 and start the 6 7 fight.
7 – 7s are 7s and continue the battle.
King – this card is “stays the same.” When you play this card the 6 or 7 remains the same and play pass to the next player.
Queen – this card reverses the direction of play. When play is move to the left and a queen is played, the direction moves to the player on the right is the next player. The queen does not affect the 6 7 number.
Jack – this card allows you to subtract cards to make either 6 or 7. You can subtract as many cards as you need to make either 6 or 7. You play the jack with the cards. It has no number value.

Can’t Play
When you can’t play either the 6 or 7 as needed and can’t play a special card either, then you lose the round. The cards are now shuffled and the dealer job passes to the left.

Winning the 6 7 Card Game
Each time you lose a round, you get a mark. When you have collected 6 or 7 marks (decided before you start playing) then all other players win the game.
