But Why Dice?
But why are dice perfect for summer fun? First, may of the games in the list are easy to learn and fast to play. Many of them only need the dice themselves to play. Second, dice are great for travel as they are small and light weight. Third, you can play dice games just about anywhere—hotel rooms, front porches, back decks, at the beach, the park, the airport!
Although you can play them just about anywhere, you might want to add a dice tray to the fun. This keeps the dice from rolling away, crackling too loudly on glass top tables, and getting lost in the sand. You can get some really nice ones in every colour. I think this cat shaped one is great! Summer Dice Game: Save the Turtles
This game is near and dear to my heart as it’s the first roll and write dice game that I ever created! In the game, you have to get as many turtles as you can from the beach to the water before time runs out! Each roll is a different movement and if you’re lucky, you can join paths to get more turtles to safety. You can read the full game tutorial here. Summer Dice Game: Ants
This next summer dice game is another one that I created. When my oldest daughter was just starting school I was inspired to crate a co-op game where she could practice her math skills and we could all win or loose together. What started as a simple mom hack turned into one of our most popular games.
The story of the game is that you’re on a picnic but there are ants all around! They want your food but you can roll the way to safety. Your team works together but if you roll the wrong way the ants can take over! Read the full game rules here.

Burger Dice Summer Dice Fun
The next hot summer dice game is the tasty Burger Dice. It does need a lot of dice but it’s worth it. In this game you are trying to make the most burgers as you can. But what counts as a burger? Well, as long as you have a bun on the bottom, something in the middle, and a bun on the top you have a burger! This results in the craziest burgers I’ve ever heard of! A pickle burger anyone? That is a burger that only has a pickle in it. What about a ketchup burger? Maybe not the tastiest of burgers but a pretty tasty game! You can learn how to play the Burger dice game here.

Our next summer dice game is the sweetest. In the Big Scoops dice game, you are trying to build best ice cream cone as you can! Yes, the Burger dice game inspired this one, but Big Scoops is its’ own game.

Summer Dice Game: Roller Coaster
When I think of summer fun, I think of country fairs and riding all the rides. The dice game Roller Coaster brings the joy of those fairs to the game table—without the spinning head! This is a great group game, no matter the size of your group. You only need two dice to play and all you have to do is roll a 1. But end up with both of the dice in front of you and your ride is done.

Summer Dice Game: Shark Bite
From the Volcano to the ocean waters our next summer dice game. Shark Bite has a different kind of heat to it. Players take turns being the swimmer and the sharks. The swimmer is trying to swim to the most points. She needs to call stop to get to safety or risk being bit by a shark and having all her points stolen! Hilarious and takes a bit out of summer boredom!
