Today we have an easy Halloween party game for teens: Candy Wars. We know that many teens feel like they’re past going out trick or treating but who doesn’t want to get together, have fun and eat some candy!
It’s no secret that we love Halloween around here (the cute creative side). We have Halloween dice games, Halloween Whacky Putt, and our Hocus Pocus inspired Witch murder mystery game. Candy Wars is a little different and perfect for those teens, for office Halloween parties or any where really.
In this post we’ll cover what you need, how to play and the rules for Candy Wars. Let’s get to it.

What Do I need for Candy Wars?
You can set this up two different ways.
First, the host can supply all the candy treats. You could put together treat bags full of candy, larger bags filled with more sizeable candy, or just a full-size chocolate bar for each player. For the smaller candy bags you will want see-through bags. You will need to wrap all of the candy bags as “gifts”.
The second way is to have each guest bring a chocolate bar or other wise agreed-on candy type. They should warp the “gifts”.
You will also need several decks of cards. Halloween themed cards make a nice addition to the game. Separate the decks into their suits and each player gets one set.
How Do I Play Candy Wars Halloween Game?
To start, place all of the “gifts” in the middle of the playing area. Next, everyone should first shuffle their cards and flip over the top card. The highest cards gets to start.
Aces are high.
This player gets to choose one of the gifts and unwarp it. They show it wo everyone at the table so everyone can know what’s up for grabs.

Next, the player to their left gets a turn. They can either choose to take a gift from the middle and unwarp it or they can challenge the first player.
Play will then move on to the next player on the left. Unless a challenge has been issued.
Challenging
When a player decides that they like someone’s gift or loot, then they can challenge that player on their turn. The challenger and challengie will now battle it out to see who gets the gift. First, each player will shuffle their pack of cards. Then they will flip over the top card. The player with the highest card wins the gift.

If both players flip over a matching card, they then have a war on their hands. Each player will place three cards face down on the table and flip over the next card in their decks. Again, the high card wins.
Once the battle has been won, the player who didn’t end up with the treat, gets to pick either from the table or to challenge a different play.

You can’t challenge the player you just lost to. Also, when a treat has been battled for three times, it is considered safe and stays with the person who won the third battle over it.
How Do We End Halloween Candy Wars?
When all players have had a chance to pick then the player who first opened a gift gets to decide if they wish to keep their gift or challenge another player. When all players have a gift, then the game is over.
Bonus Fun
If you’re hosting and supplying the candy, here are a few easy ways to wrap the candy packs. The first is super easy, take empty toilet paper rolls and wrap them in Halloween themed napkins from the dollar store. Tie the one end, load the candy and then tie the other end.
The second way is to cut circles from orange tissue paper. Load the candy in the middle then bring the sides up to form a pumpkin, topping and sealing the pumpkin either with green masing tap or a green pipe cleaner.
Third, you can take paper cups, fill them with candy and then cover them with coloured tissue paper and put a monster face on them.
There are lots of other ways you could decorate them too. Be as creative or time-saving as you like.
