Get Excited for these Games to Play with Five Dice

As you know, we love dice games around here- in fact we have over 100 of them on the blog! So we thought we would share with you the top 5 dice games that you can play with 5 dice!

Now Yahtzee is the classic 5 dice game (we have a free score sheet in our Fun Library and you can get your password in the black box further in the post) but when you grow tired of it these games will add fun and excitement to your game night.

What You Need

Of course you will need 5 dice. We like to play where everyone has their own dice in their favorite color. You can shop dice here; Canadians here.

Many of the games also will need a pen and paper to keep score with.

Games to Play with 5 Dice: Stuck in the Mud

This game also goes by the name Drop Dead, either way this game is a favorite of many. You roll the dice and any 2s or 5s are Stuck in the Mud and are set aside with no score for the roll. When you manage not to roll a 2 or 5 you get to add the dice together. You keep rolling until all your dice are Stuck in the Mud. You can read the full game rules here. 5 Dice Game Piñata

Our next game that you can play with 5 dice is our own creation Piñata! In his game, you are competing to make the best piñata that you can but you need to be careful because if you roll too many party dice then you score nothing for the round. Will you go for more points? Or will you risk getting the partying 5s? Piñata is stuffed full of fun. You can get the full game rules here and a printable rule sheet here.

Games to Play with 5 Dice: Threes

The next 5 dice game is Threes. This game also has a few other names including Threes are Free. In this game, players are trying to get the lowest score. You need to pick at least one dice per roll to keep. Threes will cost you nothing but watch out for the costly 6! Learn how to play here and get the printable rules here.

5 Dice Game Ship Captain Crew

This game is another popular one. In the game, you are pirates trying to gather as much treasure as you can. The twist is that you have to get the right combination of dice before you can score any treasure. You need to have a ship then a captain and a crew before hauling some booty! Games to Play with 5 Dice: Blizzard

Our last 5 dice game is another one of our original games: Blizzard. Despite its name, Blizzard is fun to play at any time of year, even when it’s so hot that you’d love for it to snow. The game is played in three separate rounds each with its own unique goal. You are competing to be the player with the most powerful storm.
