What Do I Need for the Risk It Dice Game?

I have heard that the Las Vegas dice game is similar but we haven’t had a chance to play it yet. There is also the game Roll 2 Riches that also seems to be similar. If you like the games Cheat, Pig, and 10,000 then this is a must try game.

You will need 10 dice per player each in their own colour, a deck of cards and number mats for the numbers from 1 to 6. We like to use our dice from out Tenzi game but if you need more dice you you can shop dice hereCanadians here.

How Do I Set Up the Risk It Diced Game?

To start, remove all the face cards from the deck of cards and shuffle the rest of the cards. Next, place the number mats out in the middle of the playing area in numerical order. Now each player gets a set of ten dice in one colour.

Now it is time for the cards. One at a time, deal out a card face up and place it beside each number mat. If any mats have a number less than 5, deal another card to them. Again, if the sum of the cards is less than 5, deal another card. Repeat until all mats have cards that add up to or more than 5.

How Do I Play the Risk It Dice Game?

The goal of Risk It is to be the player with the most amount of points at the end of the game.

To start, everyone rolls one dice. The high roll goes first.

On your turn, roll all of your dice. Now it’s decision time.

Separate your dice into number piles. The 1s together, the 2s together and so on. Now you can decide which number mat to put your dice on. The dice must match the number on the mat (3s on the number 3 mat etc.). Also, you must place all of that number that you rolled onto the mat. For example, if you rolled three 4s then all of the 4s will be placed on the mat.

Once you place your dice, it is the next player’s turn.

Second Turn

On your second turn of Risk It, you will roll all of your remaining dice. Again, separate them into number groups and decide what number you will place. As before, you must place all of the number that you rolled. You may add dice to a mat that already has your dice on it.

Awarding Prizes

The player who has the most dice on a number mat wins the cards that are beside it.

If there are two or more players tied for the most dice, and there is another player who has dice on that mat, the tied players cancel each other out and the third player gets the cards. If there are only two tied players on a mat, then the cards are split between them. Both players roll one dice and the player with the highest roll gets the highest ranked card.

Round Two

Once all of the cards have been awarded, all dice are returned to the players, and new cards are dealt to the number mats. Again, if there are any mats that have less than 5 points, more cards are dealt to them. The play is the same as before.

Running Out of Cards

When there are not enough cards for each number to get a card, then the game is over. If there are enough cards for every number but not enough to make each numb er worth 5 or more points, then the play the round with the lesser points score.

Once all the cards have been won, the game is over and players count the number of points that they won through the game.
