Setting Up Whacky Putt

First, you can mix and match with the original holes. You could even add in some of the Halloween holes if your diehard fans of those holes. However, you don’t need the holes from the original game, the Christmas holes are fun all on their own.

To start, write the players’ names on the score card. Next, decide on how many holes you want to play. You can play a 9 hole game or an 18 hole game.

Next, decide on how many holes you want to pay. Whacky Putt Christmas comes with 11 holes. (We couldn’t help ourselves—the ideas just kept coming!) One way to decide, is to shuffle the cards together and then place them face down on the table. At the beginning of the hole, you flip over the first card and see what hole it is. This adds an element of surprise to the game. Yet another way is to let each player chose a hole in turn.

How to Play

Now it’s time to start the fun. Just as in the original, each hole has a fun action that must be done either before or while rolling. For the Christmas holes, the actions are all festive. There’s singing, actions, and wishing just to name a few. If the action is not done, there is a penalty.

After the action, players are trying to accomplish the aim of the hole. These are all different and have ties to the hole’s theme. For example, in the Polar Bear hole, player’s are trying to roll a 4 for the mama bear and 2s for the cubs.

The number of rolls that it takes a player to achieve the goal is the number of strokes he has taken. After making down the score on the scoresheet, play moves on to the next players.

When all the players have had a turn to play the hole, the next card is turned over and a new action and goal are played for.

For an 18 hole game, you can either add in holes from other games, repeat the same 9 holes or mix them up as in the first 9 holes.

Winning Whacky Putt Christmas

When either all 9 or 18 holes have been played and scored, the player with the lowest overall score is the wining—just like in physical mini golf.
